La Fiamma has come away from their home run with four wins and sit third on the ladder as the side is now in a battle for promotion.

Their win on the weekend was the most miraculous of them all, getting up over Swan Valley 2-1 with a late goal getting them over the line.

Vice-captain William Cable sealed the win for the side with a goal on the last kick of the game, sending the Reds into an uproar as they came back from being down early.

Reds captain Lachlan Gray said it was an amazing way to come away with the win.

“To get the last second win, its one of those feelings that never gets old, to score on basically the last kick of the game is an amazing feeling,” he said.

“(Cable) was absolutely stoked, couldn’t wipe the smile off his face after that.”

It was also the first time this season that La Fiamma mounted a comeback, after the side conceded early.

“It was quite a frustrating game to begin with…we haven’t gone down in a game and come back to win all season, so conceding first and quite early was obviously quite frustrating,” Gray said.

“For them to get a player sent off and it still take so long for us to be able to get a goal back...unfortunately for Swan Valley, our first goal came off the foot of one of their players.”

The win has La Fiamma sitting third on the ladder, just two points behind second-placed Northern City, who they face this week.

The Reds go back on the road now after playing five games at Salvatore Sciuto Stadium in a six game stretch.

Gray set an ambitious goal to come away with 15 ladder points from the home run, but they are still thrilled to have brought back four wins.

“We knew it was going to be very tough for us to achieve 15-points from the five games…for us to come away with 12 out of 15 is still a good result,” he said.

With their winning form, now La Fiamma are now fighting for promotion and are on the doorstep of moving up a division.

Now the pressure is on for the Geraldton team, and each game becomes an important one.

“We still need to make sure that we don’t take our foot off and keep pushing,” Gray said.

“Especially for Northern City, they are in a really good seat for league title…they’ve got more to lose than us this weekend…it comes down to mental fortitude.”

A win on the weekend will jump the Reds up to second on the ladder, chasing the leaders Bayswater City who sit on 27-points.

La Fiamma’s clash with Northern City takes place on Sunday, July 28 at Dryandra/Pendula Reserve with kick off at 3pm.
