Georgia has golfing on her mind

Asked what she wants to be, Georgia Sanderson answers in bullet-like fashion: “a professional golfer.”

“Yes, I would like to be like Minjee Lee,” she adds, referring to the world-class WA woman golfer.

If commitment and character are good indicators, then the Year 10 Nagle Catholic College student is on track.

She literally spends hours and hours trying to perfect her game.

The 14-year-old recently won the women’s division (nett) at the Geraldton Golf Club’s Easter Open. She was the youngest girl to do so.

“I have been playing competition golf each Sunday since last year,” the well-mannered Georgia said.

“But I started playing when I was only three years old. It’s because of my dad (Clint), who got me interested.

“I think I am the youngest winner of the Easter Open and I am the youngest member, certainly female, here.

“I just love the game and would like to do it for a living. I just have to get some sponsors.”
