Geraldton Turf Club has been forced to postpone tomorrow’s Batavia Sprint race meeting because of hot weather.

Club general manager Dave Wrensted said the meeting had been called off because of Racing & Wagering WA’s heat policy.

The Bureau of Meteorology has forecast a top temperature for Geraldton tomorrow of 42 degrees.

Mr Wrensted said the club hoped to hold the meeting this coming Tuesday, weather permitting, and subject to a doctor, ambulance and vet being available.

The Batavia Sprint is the second biggest meeting on the club’s calendar, next to the Geraldton Cup.
