Despite facing challenging weather conditions, Geraldton/Woorree Park BMX Club showcased their talent and determination in round three of the WA State Series in Mandurah.

The event, marred by rain and drizzle throughout the day, finally had a glimpse of sunshine during the finals, providing a fitting backdrop to the club’s impressive performance.

Leading the charge was Mike Gallie, who secured a dominant first-place finish in the 40-44 cruiser age group. The win propelled him to a commendable third place in the overall rankings.

Brent McDonald also had a stellar outing, clinching first place in the 45-49 cruiser category. His consistent performance earned him third place overall in the masters division, marking another significant achievement for the club.

In the women’s brackets, Amaney Warren delivered a standout performance, finishing in the top spot in the 17-24 women’s category.

Caroline Molloy continued to shine, bringing home the win in the 45-49 women’s group. She also excelled in the combined bracket competition, which featured racers from several age groups, securing an impressive second-place finish.

The club’s younger riders also displayed remarkable grit and determination with Axl Gallie, Ashlin Barton-Collins, and Emmerson Barton-Collins all showing promise and resilience throughout the day.

For the Barton-Collins pair it was a homecoming, with both riders starting their careers in Mandurah before relocating to Geraldton.

“I really enjoyed the racing yesterday, the new track upgrades have made the track more challenging but also faster on the second straight,” Ashlin Barton-Collins said.

“I think the track is so much cooler now.”
