Geraldton went another week at the WA Country Championships without a title but put in some good performances in week two.

The under-13 girls and under-14 boys and girls were all in action in their respective championship divisions over the weekend at the Bendat Basketball Stadium in Perth.

The under-13 girls had the best tournament, finishing second after the group stages with wins over Kalgoorlie, Esperance, Karratha and Busselton and their sole loss coming against the Australind All-Stars 34-13.

They faced Karratha again in the semifinal, who they beat by one point win over in the group stages, but Karratha got their revenge in another tight game 22-20.

Having led by five at the half Geraldton were overhauled in the second 13-6. Milla Samulkiewicz was the standout performer across the weekend with 36 points.

The under-14 boys had a tough run, coming out on the wrong end of a couple of tight games to finish bottom of the standing after the group stages.

They came up just short against Harvey 20-22 in their opening game before coughing up a six-point lead to go down to Albany in their next game 28-26.

Losses against Bunbury and Busselton followed as they had to settle for a fourth-placed play-off with Harvey.

There they finally clicked with Jai Keene dropping 13 points in a thumping 43-19 win to avoid the wooden spoon.

Keene was also named in the All-Star team for his division.

The under-14 girls had a mixed tournament to finish with a 2-3 record and a fourth-place finish.

A one-point win over Buseelton was followed by a three-point loss to Australind before a bounce-back against Bunbury 32-22.

However, losses to eventual champions Karratha and to Albany dropped them to fourth.

Sophia Pigdon finished as their top scorer with 21 points.
