Despite low attendances for midweek races during the season, the Geraldton public turned out in full force for Sunday’s Gold Cup.
With numbers in the range of 2000 people, the crowd came for the biggest racing day in the Mid West.

What A Prince won the cup with Chris Nicoll aboard, leading the way for a nice victory after coming runner-up in the Batavia Sprint.
It brought a handy prize for trainer Barry Newnham, with this year’s Gold Cup hosting a pool of $125,000.

More than 30 of the State’s best young drivers got behind the wheel of the 62nd edition of the Australian National Soapbox Championships held on Easter Saturday at Apex Drive.

Off the track, all eyes were on the Fashions on the Field as the ladies braved the runway, showing off their months of hard work.
In the end it was Christy Poulsen who took the main win, with Candace Hatch and Ashley Clark finishing as runner-up and second runner-up.
Now the turf club has still three meetings left in the season, with the year being stretched out to have less races take place in the hot Geraldton summers.
