Geraldton Detectives appeal for community vision to identify man pictured after Spalding armed robbery
Geraldton Detectives have issued a public plea for help identifying a knife-wielding robber who targeted a Spalding deli this week.
Police said on Wednesday a man entered Kathy’s Snacks deli on Mitchell Street in Spalding armed with a knife and demanded money from the shop assistant.
The suspect — who detectives have yet to identify — allegedly opened the till and removed cash before running from the deli. No one was injured in the incident.
Geraldton Detectives officer-in-charge Det-Sen. Sgt Bruce McDonald said the man was last seen walking east along Mitchell Street in Spalding, opposite North West Coastal Highway.
“Police were called to the scene and conducted extensive inquiries around the area, however the suspect was not located,” he said.
Det-Sen Sgt McDonald said police also conducted forensic examinations and were awaiting results.
“This is an isolated incident, however it is very concerning a matter occurred like this in Geraldton. (Detectives) have a large number of resources working on the investigation,” he said.
“We strongly believe someone in the community will know who the suspect is and we ask if anyone has any information regarding the identity of the suspect to please contact Geraldton Detectives or Crime Stoppers.”
Detectives are also urging anyone in the Spalding area on Wednesday with dashcam footage or with CCTV footage to contact police.
