Geraldton driver Callum Williamson falls short in Warrnambool ahead of trip to USA
Coming off his Speedweek crown, Geraldton driver Callum Williamson finished 17th in the Australian Championship in Warrnambool.
The massive competition took place last weekend, with the first round of heats racing on Friday and the finals taking place on Saturday.
During the first day, Williamson pulled up solid results with a second-place finish in the qualifying race, along with a fifth and first place results in the two heats to go along with his eighth-place finish in the main preliminary.
The results had Williamson at seventh in total competition points, and starting from P8 in the main feature on Saturday, where he would compete for the Australian Championship title.
However, the Geraldton racer didn’t find the same success in the final and pulled up with a 17th-place finish in the final ladder.
Now Williamson and his crew will be coming back to WA for upcoming races in Bunbury and Perth throughout February.
This is all in preparation for Williamson’s next step after the announcement he’ll be heading to the US and taking over the wheel of the Trone Outdoor Motorsports car for the 2024 season.
Williamson will take over the wheel and compete in high-profile events including the Kings Royal and Knoxville Nationals.
The big move will see him take on his first US race in May against some of the top American competition.
