Geraldton driver in her 80s loses control and crashes into post office bollard, injuring man in his 20s

Police are investigating a crash that involved a woman in her 80s losing control of her vehicle and ploughing into a bollard at the Geraldton post office, injuring a man. On Friday about 5pm, St John WA were called to attend a crash on Durlacher Street after the woman lost control of her blue Suzuki Swift at a carpark. The vehicle crashed into a bollard next to the Smokin Grill and Burger Restaurant, hitting the man. St John WA confirmed a man in his 20s received leg injures and was taken to Geraldton Health Campus. He arrived just after 5.40pm. The ambulance also took the elderly driver to hospital to treat minor injuries. A tow truck was seen hoisting the vehicle out of the courtyard that evening, with police diverting traffic attempting to turn into the complex. A WA Police spokesperson confirmed the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash remains ongoing and no charges had been laid. A WA Country Health spokesperson confirmed on Monday that the injured man was transferred by Royal Flying Doctor Service on Sunday to Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, where he is in a stable condition. The driver has been discharged from hospital.
