Geraldton June softball carnival brings talent from all over the State with 173 games played over three days

Geraldton will be the place to be for softball fans, as 48 teams come from all over the State to compete in the June carnival. Starting on Friday with the annual Sim’s Memorial Game with a team of selected players facing off against the umpires, the tournament will have 173 games over the three-day period. Teams will be split into six divisions with games being played at Utakarra Ballpark and Towns Football Oval. With nine games running at any given time, there will be plenty for fans to enjoy. The 48 teams come from all over the State and will call Geraldton their home for the competition before the top teams from each division face off at the very end to decide the winner. The event becomes a showcase for not only local talent but WA’s talent, with fixtures ranging from Bunbury, Perth to local Geraldton teams. With the Geraldton softball association putting in months of work to make the carnival possible, they will be well-represented with local teams Rams, Pi’s, Batavia Blaze and the Mid West Marlins a team in two divisions. Last year’s divisional winners were the Base Invaders, Demons, Suzy’s Rookies, Bad Attitude and Rockingham Juniors, this year can be anyone’s game. The first three games will be played on Friday night but the real action begins on Saturday at 8am and the one-hour games running for until late at night.
