Geraldton police are looking to reunite stolen items worth thousands of dollars with their owners after they were recovered in police raids last week.

Sen-Sgt Jason Scragg said police executed search warrants last week in response to a recent increase in burglaries to disrupt the proceeds of crime.

“There’s close to $10,000 here in tools, equipment and cash,” he said. “We’re targeting the people that are swapping these items for drugs.”

He said as a result of the raids eight adults had been charged with 18 offences ranging from drug possession, cultivation and unlawful possession of property or cash.

“We’re looking for the owners of some of those items, especially the power tools and motorbike, to hopefully reunite them with their belongings,” he said.

“I always say if you have items stolen the best thing to do is come to the station and report it.”
