Geraldton police arrest Perth woman after allegedly seizing trafficable quantity of meth in Greenough

A woman in her 50s is facing serious drug dealing charges after police say they stopped her vehicle in Greenough and found 38g of methamphetamine and 340g of cannabis inside. Police say about about 10.28pm on Thursday January 18, officers stopped a woman driving a white BMW on Brand Highway in Greenough and conducted a search of the vehicle. Police say clip seal bags with 38g of methamphetamine and 340g of cannabis were found inside. The woman was taken to Geraldton police station, where police say they seized more items. The 53-year-old woman was charged with possession of prohibited drugs with intent to sell or supply, and possessing a trafficable quantity of methamphetamine with intent to sell or supply. She was remanded in custody and appeared in court on Friday, January 19. In court, she was granted bail to report to the Hillarys police station twice a week and is next due to appear in Geraldton Magistrates Court on Thursday, March 21. Mid West-Gascoyne police district Supt Steve Post said people were concerned about drugs in their community, and those dealing drugs could expect a visit or a vehicle stop at any time. “These seizures and arrests in recent days are as a result of our investigations and ongoing efforts to disrupt those who bring drugs into our communities and contribute to the dysfunction that we all have to deal with as a result of drug use,” he said. “Family violence, mental health episodes and antisocial behaviour, as well as volume crime, are all fuelled by illicit drug use and we will do whatever we can to disrupt the drug trafficking and bring those responsible to justice.”
