Geraldton police say cannabis, thousands in cash and prohibited weapons seized in Utakarra house raid

A pair of nunchakus, a retractable knife, a can of pepper spray and about $12,000 in cash were allegedly seized by police along with almost half a kilogram of cannabis during a raid on a Utakarra property this week. Geraldton police searched the Devenish Street property about 9pm on Monday. At least six officers were involved, who allegedly seized 480 grams of cannabis, three prohibited weapons and cash. Officer-in-charge Senior Sergeant Chris Martin said he would allege a retractable knife, pair of nunchakus, a can of pepper spray and about $12,000 cash was seized at the address. A 28-year-old man was arrested and charged with possession with intent to sell prohibited drugs, unlawful possession of cash and possession of prohibited weapons. He was later released from custody and summonsed to appear in Geraldton Magistrates Court on December 22. Sen. Sgt Martin said police were constantly working to disrupt the flow of controlled drugs into the community and the warrant was a combination of thorough police work and Crime Stoppers reports. “Geraldton police remain committed to eradicating the scurge of illegal drugs from the local community,” he said. “We know from research that the use and distribution of illicit drugs often leads to further serious offending within the community and as such will remain a top priority for me and my officers. “I would encourage those who have information about drugs to contact police on 131444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
