Geraldton snapshot in time: Book Week still engaging all
We don’t need to remind all parents that we are in the middle of Children’s Book Week.
The annual event of costumes, characters and lots of extracurricular hours spent by parents bringing their children’s wishes of who they want to be to life is in full swing.
So for this Snapshot in Time, it’s quite apt we bring you this kids-in-costume flashback.
This is an image of an “Under the Sea” float created for the Sunshine Festival by the Bluff Point Brownies dressed up as a mermaid, octopuses and sharks among other sea creatures. This was taken some time in the 1990s. Do you recognise anyone in the frame?
The theme for this year’s Children’s Book Week, which runs until Friday, is Old Worlds, New Worlds, Other Worlds — giving kids and their parents plenty of inspiration. Do you go with something historical, or futuristic, or mystically make-believe?
The choices are endless.
