Geraldton softball round 3 preview: Teams looking to make their mark early in the season

Teams are eager to solidify their standings in the early stages of the Geraldton softball season as round three action teed off on Thursday.

Action is already heating up, with the weekend full of thrilling matchups across both men’s and women’s divisions.

In men’s top division, Suiside will face off against Martians on Saturday afternoon in what promises to be a fierce contest.

Suiside will be riding high after their decisive win over Rams in the previous round and will look to continue their strong form.

Martians, fresh off a victory themselves, are eager to challenge the team-to-beat and make their mark.

Rams, still smarting from their defeat, will be keen for redemption when they go up against Blaze on Friday night. Both teams are desperate to get their seasons on track after suffering losses in their opening matches.

Women’s division one boasts an exciting line-up, with Taryn Purcell’s Marlins taking on Rams in a much-anticipated rematch of last season’s grand final. Marlins come into the game buoyed by a hard-fought win over Pi’s Panthers, while Rams, who had a bye in the last round, are well-rested and ready to avenge their grand final loss.

The action doesn’t stop there for women’s top division, as Saturday sees Marlins play their second game of the round against Martians. Rams will also face a double-header, squaring off against Pi’s Panthers later in the day.

In women’s division two, the competition kicked off on Thursday night with Suiside going head-to-head against Rams White. Saturday’s matches will see Rams Blue take on Pi’s Panthers, while Martians face a tough double-header against Rams White and Marlins in back-to-back games. The final match of the round pits Blaze against Gunduwa.

Men’s division two sees newly-formed Pi’s Panthers on the hunt for their first win against Rams White, while Blaze takes on Suiside, Marlins clash against Gunduwa, and Martians Red face Rams Blue. in the final game of the round.
