Suiside’s top men’s side will be chasing their fourth win in a row when they face an undermanned Rams side on Friday night in round five of the Geraldton softball season.

Sides are primed to bring the heat this round, with some thrilling match-ups on the cards in all divisions.

In the men’s top division, Suiside have been dominant, with standout performances from Cooper Jefferies and Jy Thurstun.

Rams will again be without key players Dean Pascoe, Paul Valenti, Leon Chapman, Shane Clark and Fletcher Harrison, who are all still competing in the Pan Pacific Games.

Missing this group hurt the team in their heavy defeat by Martians last round.

Meanwhile, Martians are hoping to continue their upward trajectory as they clash with Blaze.

With Tane Brott back on the pitcher’s mound, Martians look like serious contenders this season.

Blaze, though, have shown steady improvement and will aim to build on their progress, making this match-up one to watch.

Marlins remain the team to beat in women’s division one, holding top spot on the ladder since round one.

With a bye this round, they’ll be watching as their closest rivals fight it out.

Rams sit in second and have showcased impressive form, with Stacey Derschow proving to be a force on the mound, backed by solid batting from Erin Dawson, Stevie Usher and Kate Harrison.

They are taking on Suiside, who have struggled for consistency in the early rounds but will be hoping to turn things around.

Saturday also sees division one Martians take on the winless Panthers. Martians, with one win and two losses, will be eager to capitalise on Panthers’ challenging start, as Panthers look to find the form and morale they need.

In men’s division two, Suiside have looked nearly untouchable, topping the ladder with four wins from four and a massive +58-run difference. They have a bye this round, allowing them to enjoy the show as other teams fight to match their form.

Panthers will face Rams Blue, while Marlins take on Martians Red, Rams White go up against Blaze, and Martians Black play Gunduwa.

The women’s division two competition has Suiside leading the pack with an unbeaten record, followed closely by Marlins, with only games played marking the difference. Suiside face Blaze, while Marlins will clash with Pi’s Panthers.

In other games, Rams Blue and Rams White face off in their derby, while Gunduwa and Martians will battle it out.
