Northampton and Brigades meet in the Great Northern Football League’s Indigenous round match of the day at GBSC Park tomorrow.

It will be another chapter in a remarkable season among the top four. To recap, initially Rovers were favourites, then they drew with Railways in the first round and it was Rovers and Railways, but now, Brigades are talked about. That’s not to discount Northampton. They’ve done enough to be taken seriously, but do they have the depth of the other three contenders?

Their elite — Beau Walker, Harry Taylor, Flynn Dillon — are superb with support from Trent Simpson, Ethan Brown, Kieran Harris and Braden Jupp, but they fall away after that.

Brigades alone among the top four don’t have a stand-out player, or players. But they have depth.

Their best are Kim and Jayden Schofield, Jack Deschamp, Ben O’Brien, Graham Sandy, Dale Williamson, Jed Hagan, Jesse Casselton, Hayden Johnson and Kaiden Dann, but the rest are capable.

Norths won their previous game against the Hawks this season by 23 points, and Brigades will be keen to avoid the slow start they made that day.

Mullewa host Rovers in a match Rovers, who have too many guns for the Saints, should win easily.

Rovers’ star is JJ Clune Medal favourite Jaimon Alone, who has been among his team’s best every game and has kicked 26 goals.

But that’s not to discount Chris Scott, Anthony Kyanga, Gabriel Parfitt, Dylan Curley, Jamie Geier and new recruit Josh Simpson.

On Sunday, Railways play Towns at the Rec. It should be an easy task for Railways, with Towns unable to score more than a handful of goals against the top sides.

For Railways, Jesse Adamini, Mitch Boyle, Drew Tunbridge, Jesse Moore, Noah Cachard, James Huggins, Ben Saunders, Matt Kimberley, Elliot Delaney, Elijah Burrows and Shaedan Edwards will keep Towns busy.

Towns will look to Mitchell Keene, Kael Corlett, Rourke Drage, Matt Russell, William Faithfull, Rohan Fariss, Drew Forrester and Stuart Gaby.
