It was a thriller in the reserves grand final with Brigades scoring in the dying minutes to take home the win over Chapman Valley in the decider.

The Hawks were down by one points with little time left to play but a Khegan Cross goal delivered them a 7.4 (46) to 6.6 (42) win over the Royals.

Despite coming in as the favourites, Brigades trailed for most of the match, with Chapman Valley getting off to an early lead.

The Royals managed to hold Brigades at arm’s length for the match, not giving an inch with just a two-point margin separating the teams at three quarter time.

Brigades got it down to a one-point game late and Royals fought to hold on to their lead.

With the game on the line, the Hawks started to work in sync from centre field, as Dion Dann sent a kick forward and Courtney Ryder got it on the hands with Chris Quick putting a high ball to the square.

With just one man to beat in front of the sticks, Cross came down with the mark and drilled home the all-important goal to put the Hawks up with two minutes to play.

Valley moved quickly with the game on the line and managed to break it through their 50 and have a shot on the run, but the ball fell wayside for a behind.

From there Brigades ran out the game and brought home the win with the late goal from Cross delivering them the flag.

When the final siren blew the Hawks couldn’t believe the scenes as they came together, while there were shattered Royals players all over the ground.

The best on ground award went to Hawks’ Jaxon Luff while the East Fremantle award went to Dann.

Cross finished the game with two goals which led the side while five others had singles and Len Papertalk led the Royals with two goals.
