Chapman Valley has made the first big signing for the 2019 GNFL season.

Local product Brad Dick, 30, is coming home after the Royals inked the deal with the much-travelled Dick last week.

Dick, a small, speedy wingman/forward, was 17 when drafted by Collingwood in 2006.

He made his debut the following year, playing alongside another indigenous and now GNFL star, Shannon Cox (Rovers), and kicked two goals in a win over Richmond.

However, two knee reconstructions and two serious shoulder surgeries curtailed his career with the Magpies, with Dick missing all of 2008.

The next year he kicked five goals and polled a Brownlow vote in the Queen’s Birthday match against Melbourne. He also played a stunning third quarter in a final that season, helping Collingwood come from behind to beat Adelaide.

Dick played 27 games and kicked 32 goals for the Pies before being delisted in 2011.

He trained with the Dockers but was overlooked, and it was on the recommendation of Mick Malthouse that the West Coast Eagles picked Dick up as a rookie.

He was elevated to the senior list, but didn’t play a league game in two seasons, managing 22 games with East Fremantle in the WAFL.

Dick also played with indigenous club Rumbalara near the Victorian/NSW border, with Southern Districts in the Northern Territory, Lorne in Victoria and in Kalgoorlie.

“He’s home now, and we’re pretty happy,” Chapman Valley president Grant Woodhams said.
