Group of teenagers charged over alleged attack, robbery of two teenage girls in Rigters IGA car park ‘ambush’

Police are investigating after two teenage girls were attacked and robbed inside their car outside a Durlacher Street supermarket, allegedly by a group of teenagers. Geraldton Detectives say the group of teenagers — including 1 boy and four girls aged between 13 and 15 — attacked the teenage girls after they left Rigters Supa IGA and got into their car on Monday, May 9 about 7pm. It’s alleged five teenagers approached the car, demanded property and then assaulted the two 17-year-old victims. Det-Sen. Const. Joe Connolly said the attack was a senseless and violent act that was still under investigation by police. “They approached the victims in a vehicle after being in the shops and demanded property from them, using violence to get it,” Sen. Const Connolly said. He alleged the group stole property including cash, and detectives have identified the accused with help from the Rigters IGA CCTV cameras. It is alleged that one of the members of the group had stolen property from the store before the attack, but Det-Sen. Const. Connolly said that was still under investigation. All five accused have been charged with offences, including aggravated robbery, stealing and breach of bail offences. Two of the accused already appeared in court this week.
