A service station in Dongara has been listed as a COVID-19 exposure site.

The alert was issued on Tuesday for anyone who was at Liberty Dongara on Brand Highway on Thursday, January 27, between 10.15am and 10.45am.

The health advice is to monitor for symptoms, unless told otherwise by the Health Department. If symptoms develop, they should get tested and isolate.

It’s believed to be the first community exposure site in the Mid West. The department lists all exposure sites on its Healthy WA website.

It comes as 13 new local cases were reported on Tuesday, with eight related to known clusters.

On Sunday it was confirmed that a FIFO worker at the Golden Grove mine site near Yalgoo had tested positive for COVID-19. He and 10 other colleagues have been isolated.

That case and another two cases confirmed at BHP’s Yandi mine site in the Pilbara are the first instances of COVID detected on WA’s remote mine sites.

It’s the first COVID case in the Mid West since the early days of the pandemic in 2020.
