Judges impressed by standards that exceeded expectations in 2023 Mid West Building Excellence Awards
Precision workmanship and flawless execution that exceeded expectations saw Mid West builders singled out for praise at the 2023 Building Excellence Awards last week.
Winners and finalists of the Master Builders-Commonwealth Bank Building Excellence Awards came together at The Gerald on October 14 to honour outstanding commitment to building excellence in the local industry.
The two major awards of the night were taken out by Crothers Construction and McAullay Builders.
Crothers Construction won the best regional project Mid West region award for the redevelopment of the Main Roads and Department of Transport office on Eastward Road.
The $14 million project involved creating a purpose-built, 1800sqm facility for a new transport service hub, with 11 customer service counters, 84 open-plan workstations, eight meeting and conference rooms, more than 100 parking bays for staff and visitors, and infrastructure for the provision of electric vehicle charging stations.
McAullay Builders took home the best country home award for the Mid West for their project in Bluff Point, nicknamed the “Ivory”.
The striking home was designed with a “luxury coastal vibe” in mind, and features an open-plan living area, drenched in natural light, raked ceilings, electric louvres, engineered oak flooring and curved timber walls. The MBA judges were thoroughly impressed with the execution of finishes in the home.
Regional MBA judge Charlie Baggetta said the judges were delighted with the high standard of work on display by the winners and finalists.
“MBA’s Mid West builders are taking great pride in producing a quality product, for most it is their selling point over their competition,” he said.
“The results showcased the ability to bring the best out of all their subcontractors and suppliers and produce the workmanship everyone is proud of.”
Crothers Construction and McAullay Builders will now vie against other regional projects and homes of the year in the WA construction and building excellence awards in Perth next year.
