Road trips are always a challenge for Ugle Fabrications La Fiamma, but Sunday was a complete nightmare for the Reds as they saw their defence evaporate against Joondanna Blues FC.

The Reds’ form over the past month has been mixed at best but they have been in every game and despite their early season disruptions have managed to hold together well enough to challenge top sides.

But with a few top players out this weekend whatever form the Reds did have was completely washed away as the Blues piled on the goals in a 9-0 thumping.

There were signs of defensive frailties against Murdoch last week particularly when trying to play the ball out the back but for stand-in captain Athallah Aman it was a disastrous day.

It’s one of the Reds’ worst-ever defeats and the biggest losing margin this decade on top of being the third straight loss though they remain in 10th place.

Even with their two games in hand the Reds are well off the pace at this stage and must regroup quickly to have any hopes of a successful season.

The reserves fared slightly better in a 4-0 loss making it 13 goals conceded on the day, as they also remain in 10th place and without a win in their past five games.
