A rematch of last year’s women’s grand final had the same outcome but with a more emphatic result as La Fiamma crushed Chapman Athletic 6-2 on Monday night.

The two sides along with Abrolhos have been putting five-plus goals past opponents this season but after Chapman took down Abrolhos 1-0 last round it left themselves and the Reds as the two to fight it out for top-dog status.

But La Fiamma proved once again they are the team to beat with a brutal take-down.

Olivia Bidwell scored a hat-trick improving on her double from last year’s final while Giorgia Gray and Macie Gray scored two and one respectively.

Unsurprisingly both goals for Athletic came from Selina Kiddle taking her season tally to an incredible 16 goals from her four games so far.

But Bidwell is right behind her with 15 goals in what is set to be a blockbuster battle for top striker honours at the end of the season.

Abrolhos crushed Marconi 5-1 with a hat-trick to Rachel Forrest and a brace to Emelie Allan though Pia Richardson did at least get Marconi’s first goal of the season.

Olympic took down the Rovers 3-0 with two goals to Madlen Ahearn.

In the men’s La Fiamma also had success over Chapman with goals to Jordan Hames and Armani Liswaniso giving them their first win of the season.

But the biggest result came from Rovers who upset Olympic 4-2 to hand the reigning premiers their first loss since 2021.

Two week’s after their 19-game win streak was snapped with a 1-1 tie against La Fiamma, Ben Rollett’s hat-trick brought an end to their unbeaten streak.

Rovers are now top of the ladder with four straight wins.

In the reserves La Fiamma drew 1-1 with Chapman Athletic while Olympic crushed Rovers 4-0.
