Man, 52, admitted to hospital after allegedly being bashed at Rangeway home by ex-girlfriend demanding cash

A man allegedly assaulted at his Rangeway home last week after he refused entry and demands for cash from his ex-girlfriend and two men was admitted to hospital with serious injuries serious. Geraldton Police are investigating the alleged burglary and assault that occurred about 5pm on Thursday, September 15. It is alleged a 34-year-old woman was in the company of two men when she attended a home at Sherlock Way in Rangeway. Acting officer-in-charge Stuart Gerreyn alleged the 34-year-old was an ex-partner of the 52-year-old resident and had claimed she was owed money. “When they were refused entry and told to go away, they assaulted the man,” he said. Senior Sergeant Gerreyn said the 52-year-old man was allegedly hit in the face with a brick paver and sustained injuries to his limbs. The man was admitted to hospital for treatment and later discharged. Sen. Sgt Gerreyn said the 34-year-old woman handed herself in to Geraldton police station in the early hours of Friday morning. “The woman is in custody and due to the level of intoxication, we couldn’t interview her,” he said. She was remanded in custody to be interviewed and the investigation continues.
