Man charged with dealing cannabis at Geraldton foreshore
A 20-year-old man was charged with intent to sell or supply cannabis after Mullewa police allegedly found 40g of the drug while carrying out random breath tests at the Geraldton foreshore on Friday.
Mullewa police station officer-in-charge, Sergeant Chris Martin, said the Geraldton man was a passenger in a Holden Commodore stopped on Foreshore Drive about 8pm.
He said officers searched the car after noticing “the distinct smell of cannabis within the cabin”.
They allegedly found one large clip seal bag and two smaller bags containing the drug.
“It was packaged in such a way to suggest it was being used for the supply or the sale of the drug,” Sgt Martin said.
“We examined his mobile phone at the time and he had some messages on there which were consistent with our beliefs that he was in the process of actively selling the drug on the street.”
The man will face Geraldton Magistrate’s Court on May 24.
