Mid West among regions getting Winning Drive bowls program
Regional bowls managers will be bringing the Winning Drive Program to the country in July and August to help clubs put Bowls WA’s best practices in place.
The program is mostly targeted towards helping clubs and associations with development, as well as planning and accessing grants.

The sessions will run at Carnamah on July 21, followed by Wonthella on July 22, before the program moves on to Northam and Kellerberrin in early August.
The program will look at engaging new members and players with the sport and ways to encourage members to volunteer, as well as how to manage activity within respective venues.
In the final part, attendees will go over game plans and discuss them, and there will be question- and-answer sessions.
The tour will take in all the major clubs that meet up for country events, with sessions at Corrigin, Gnowangerup, Emu Point, Bunbury, Mandurah and finally Dunsborough after the Mid West and Wheatbelt legs.
“Winning Drive is a program that aims to help clubs improve their management and governance by educating those in leadership positions on the best practice operations for their clubs,” Bowls WA said.
“Clubs in country areas in particular will find this program of interest as it will provide them with support that Bowls WA has been unable to provide and hopefully the first step in more support for country clubs in WA.”
The local winter bowls season continues, with mixed scroungers on Friday at Denison and Wonthella.
Geraldton has cancelled its mixed Friday event with the venue closed Thursday and Friday for carpark asphalting. Men’s king scroungers are running at Wonthella this Saturday and Geraldton on Sunday. Interested players should contact the clubs.
There are also mixed drawn events. Denison player Joel Leeson has been selected to play for Stars in the Bowls WA Bowls Blitz Super League.
