Mid West Chamber of Commerce to host Business Excellence Awards at Port Authority maintenance shed Berth 1

With the 26th Mid West Business Excellence Awards around the corner, local business partners met in the lead-up to discuss what changes are taking place. The Mid West Chamber of Commerce hosted the BEA launch on Thursday, with the awards night to be held at the Mid West Ports Authority maintenance shed on Saturday, November 12, before major works start at the site. MWPA CEO Damien Tully said the port was about to go through a major transformation over the next four years. “This will be the final function we will have in that shed,” he said. “The shed has been part of the landscape since 1932.” Mr Tully said the shed will be removed and replaced with an export berth, with building activities commencing over the next four years. “It’s such a premier event to happen and seems a fitting end to that facility and we would like to share that with everyone,” he said. Last year’s award winner was JMH Group. Leah Hirst said reflecting how far they’d come in business, celebrating the challenges overcome and analysing business strategies was the most rewarding part of receiving the award. “Really analysing the business and put some strategies into a place where you might have identified some jabs or holes, things you could improve on,” she said.
