After months of waiting, the Knockout Cup comes to a head at the weekend for the Mid West Soccer Association, with the top remaining teams battling for glory on Saturday.

The women’s competition will see Chapman Athletic look to defend their title after last year’s win against the tough La Fiamma squad.

While the Reds women had a first-round bye for the cup games, Chapman Athletic played the Rovers and got up 4-1 back in May.

They then took the forfeit against Marconi, while La Fiamma beat Abrolhos 3-1 in June, leaving the two top contenders to go head-to-head in the final.

The men’s final has Abrolhos facing off against Olympic for the Knockout Cup.

Olympic had a comfortable 5-0 win over Chapman Athletic in their first-round match in June, and Abrolhos won a tight 2-1 clash against the Rovers to get their spot.

The men’s reserves is the first game to take place, with Abrolhos and Olympic also facing off for the cup in that division.

All games are scheduled to take place at Alexander Park, with the reserves starting at 2pm, followed by the league at 4pm and the women’s game at 6pm.
