Mid West Gascoyne public schools join State Government’s Schools Clean Energy Technology Fund
Eight Mid West and Gascoyne schools have joined the latest round of a State Government initiative to go greener by boosting their energy efficiency.
The Cook Government last week announced another 60 WA public schools were now part of the $44.6 million Schools Clean Energy Technology Fund.
The latest participating schools in round three of funding include Mount Tarcoola Primary School, Dongara District High School, Cervantes Primary School, Chapman Valley Primary School, Gascoyne Junction Remote Community School, Perenjori Primary School, Three Springs Primary School and Yalgoo Primary School.
Public schools were invited to apply for funds to install light emitting diode (LED) lights to reduce their energy costs and carbon emissions.
Of the 60 successful schools, 32 were from regional WA.
Education Minister Tony Buti said the 60 schools would be supported to reduce their energy use as part of the State’s broader vision for a low-carbon future.
“It is important that we continue investing in clean energy solutions to reduce overall energy costs for schools, lower their impact on the environment, and provide a more sustainable future,” he said.
“These initiatives also provide valuable opportunities for students and teachers to observe, discuss, and understand the benefits of renewable energy and technologies in real time.”
