Mitchell and Brown Retravision sends loyal customer home with a new car after she won its annual raffle

Jill Ahearn never knew a trip to Mitchell and Brown Retravision on Saturday would land her a shiny new car. But on Monday afternoon she picked up her new wheels after winning Mitchell and Brown’s prized Sale of the Century raffle. Ms Ahearn, a regular customer to the store, planned her trip to buy Christmas presents for her family. On Saturday afternoon, managing director of Mitchell and Brown, Steve Nanninga, drew Ms Ahearn’s ticket from what he estimated to be “between 4000 or 5000 entries” from the sale, which began on Wednesday last week. Mr Nanninga called Ms Ahearn, leading with “did you leave your sunglasses here? we’re looking back at the cameras and we think they’re yours”, before delivering the good news. “I had absolutely no idea, but I was just so excited,” Ms Ahearn said. A video of Mr Nanninga informing Ms Ahearn she had won was posted to Mitchell and Brown’s Facebook page, attracting more than 700 likes. The new Ford Puma is worth $34,999, and will be replacing Ms Ahearn’s ageing Isuzu DMax. “I haven’t even thought about what I’m going to do with it,” she said. Mr Nanninga said: “We try to keep the cost of the car about the same each year, and try to buy from a different dealer in town”. It is the 14th year Mitchell and Brown Retravision has given away a vehicle as part of their Sale of the Century.
