Morawa and Perenjori welcome new doctor soon after departure of GP of seven years
Morawa and Perenjori have a new doctor who will arrive less than a month after the departure of the area’s long-serving GP.
Dr Chris Bovell will be providing limited services at the Morawa Medical Centre from February 20, and will be providing full services on a four-day-a-week basis from March 20.
Shire of Morawa president Karen Chappel said it was a relief to see Dr Bovell arrive so soon after the area’s previous doctor, Dr Adebola Adeiye, left.
“In these difficult times for recruitment of general practitioners it is very comforting to our residents that we have found a replacement for Dr Adeiye so quickly,” she said.
“Dr Bovell brings with him a strong medical background and great desire to embrace the new opportunity in Morawa and Perenjori for himself and his family.”
Dr Bovell will receive a $20,000 sign-on bonus, $10,000 from each shire.
The shires also thanked Dr Adeiye for his “exemplary service to the community for the past seven years”.
