Motorist charged over crash
An 18-year-old Mount Tarcoola motorist has been charged after a crash on North West Coastal Highway on Sunday.
Police said the crash happened at 11.35am at the intersection of Hosken Street, Bluff Point, when the woman’s Suzuki Vitara and a Toyota HiLux driven by a 28-year-old Waggrakine woman collided.
The impact caused the Vitara to cross lanes, mount the kerb and hit a street sign before coming to a stop off the road.
Police said the 18-year-old had to be freed from the vehicle by emergency crews and was taken to Geraldton Regional Hospital with leg injuries.
Both vehicles were extensively damaged.
The 18-year-old was charged with failing to give way to an oncoming vehicle or pedestrian on a terminating road or near an intersection.
