Picture of the Week: Mid West canola fields take centre stage at Backroads Fields of Gold cycling event

With crops cut back to green, it’s time to reflect how stunning the Mid West outskirts came to be this winter before harvest with another Picture of the Week. This photo was captured by Daniela Tommasi during the Backroads off-road gravel bike event as farmers unlocked their gates to allow the course to run through. Ms Tommasi is an aerial and sports photographer based in the South West photographing cycling, action and endurance sports for almost 10 years. Besides sports imagery, Ms Tommasi said she photographs wineries in the Margaret River region and abstract aerial Australian landscapes when she gets the chance. “Those can be anything from the amazing coastline in the South West to the salt lakes of Shark Bay and beyond.” “In the past four years I have started using a drone, which introduces a whole new perspective to the images and is a great complementary tool to my photography,” she said.
