Detectives investigating an alleged rape in Geraldton are seeking witnesses who may have seen a person in the area at the time.

Officers are also examining CCTV video from the area and are seeking other video or dash cam footage that may have been taken in nearby streets.

Police last week charged a 21-year-old man with sexual penetration without consent after the alleged incident at a short-stay apartment in the CBD about 3.30am on March 27.

Detective Senior Constable Tom Grieve said officers were interested in talking to anyone who may have seen someone near the Geraldton marina, Foreshore Drive, Chapman Road, George Road, Bayley Street and around Northgate Shopping Centre around that time.

Anyone with access to CCTV or dash cam footage from the area is also asked to contact police.

Call Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000 or Geraldton Police Station on 9923 4555 (press four after the prompt and ask for detectives).
