Around 18,000 homes and businesses in Geraldton have power again after Western Power restored the main transmission line to the city, but thousands more customers in the Mid West are still without.

“Crews have restored the major transmission line to Geraldton,” Western Power said.

“Around 8500 customers remain without power in numerous locations between Lancelin and the Mid West following power outages caused by current weather conditions.”

It said helicopter patrols were working to find fault locations and causes and there had been a number of recloser trips.

Some areas may be unable to have power restored until bushfire risk eases, it said.
