It’s a bad day to be a snag in Geraldton thanks to the addition of new smart barbecues across the greater region.

The City of Greater Geraldton started the roll out of the Christie CC2-i Cooktops earlier this year.

The barbecues have features that provide the city with real-time information about when they need to be repaired. The cooktops also send individual data to the city, enabling the usage of each unit to be monitored.

“A really awesome feature is that the cooktops are accessible and inclusive, meaning that all members of the community can use them whether they are standing or seated,” mayor Shane Van Styn said.

The updated smart barbecues are currently available to use at the Mullewa Recreation Ground, Doc Docherty Pool and Mersey Park in Cape Burney.

A double barbecue has been installed opposite Champion Bay Surf Life Saving Club and will be available in the coming weeks.
