Roll into International Women's Day with women on wheels event
To celebrate active travel and connectivity in Geraldton, the City of Greater Geraldton will hold a Women on Wheels event this Sunday to mark International Women’s Day.
Any form of transport with wheels is welcome: participants can ride their bike, scooter, walk with a pram or even dig out those 80s roller skates and an all-important helmet.
More than 130 people have already registered to take part in the event on Sunday, which begins at 10am.
International Women’s Day is held today, acknowledging the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women all around the world.
The 10km route will begin from the shaded area between the Geraldton Yacht Club and Regional Sounds on the Foreshore and take participants on a leisurely journey along the foreshore, marina and Beresford Foreshore to St Georges Beach and back again.
The city encourages participants to go at their own pace, stop for breaks and take selfies along the way, using the hashtag #womenonwheelsgeraldton.
There will be free coffee and cakes courtesy of local providers.
