The Rover Football Club is celebrating its 120-year history as one of the longest standing clubs in the Great Northern Football League with its retro round.

The celebrations will take place this week during the round 10 clash against Railways, on the 20-year anniversary of the centenary round.

During the 2004 game, the club celebrated its 100-year anniversary with the centenary round when playing against Railways.

Now on the weekend it will gather players from the past team to celebrate and reconnect, while the present-day Demons will run out in a vintage-style kit.

It also marks a 20-year celebration since the first game of women’s football was played in Geraldton, when Rovers and Railways formed a squad to go head-to-head in an exhibition match.

Fast forward to 2024 and women’s football has grown hugely, but unfortunately a game will not be played between the sides due to the Blues women forfeiting the season.
