Royal Flying Doctor Service CEO Judith Barker to hear from Geraldton community to enhance service in Mid West

The Royal Flying Doctor Service is inviting the people of Geraldton to attend a community conversation to share their perspectives and experiences with the service. RFDS is a vital service providing aero medial emergency support and retrieval to communities in regional and remote WA. Last financial year, the RFDS retrieved 1851 patients from the Mid West. The Geraldton Health Campus refers more than 900 patients per year for RFDS transfers — the biggest number of patients from any regional hospital and almost one in 10 of all patient transfers across the State. CEO Judith Barker will be speaking with the community to gain an understanding of how the RFDS can enhance its services in the region. It is also a way to hear from people who have a personal connection to the RFDS. The session will run on Thursday, August 29 from 5pm-7pm at the Geraldton Yacht Club. Community relations director Rebecca Maddern said community members would hear about RFDS today and its plans for the future, including what impact the service has had in Geraldton and the Mid West region and a project overview. “The perspectives of those who live in and around Geraldton are critical to the RFDS and we look forward to hearing your views and experiences,” she said.
