RSPCA WA charge Geraldton woman accused of starving a puppy and dog and abandoning them in Beachlands home

A 34-year-old Beachlands woman has been charged with animal cruelty after allegedly abandoning a dog and a puppy at a property without food and water, leaving them starving for weeks. A City of Greater Geraldton ranger found a Bull Arab puppy and adult Boxer abandoned inside a vacant Beachlands property in May after an animal cruelty report. RSPCA WA allege the dogs had no access to food or water and the house was covered in urine and faeces. “The ranger poured seven to nine 1.5L bottles of water through the front door fly wire screen which both dogs drank in a desperate manner. Later that day, the ranger pushed some kibble through the screen, which the dogs ate,” an RSPCA spokesperson said. The last known occupant of the house was found in Perth and was alleged to have told RSPCA WA inspectors she had not been at the Beachlands property since April 22. The 34-year-old woman was directed to regularly feed the animals, which it is alleged she did not follow through with, resulting in RSPCA WA seizing the dogs and taking them to a local vet. Vets confirmed the puppy and dog were underweight and dehydrated and had infections as a result of their living conditions, RSPCA WA say. RSPCA WA allege the 34-year-old woman was cruel to the animals by failing to provide them with food and water, and caused them unnecessary farm by confining them in the house. She was charged with animal cruelty and failing to comply with a direction and will face the Geraldton Magistrates Court on November 28. The animals have since been taken to Perth and are recovering in foster care.
