Shannon Noll headlines Yellowfields music festival in Chapman Valley as part of his 20th anniversary tour

Beloved Australian singer Shannon Noll is set to rock the inaugural Yellowfields music festival, bringing his signature down-to-earth style and classic hits to the heart of the Mid West. Held at Nabawa Oval in Chapman Valley on Saturday, November 16, Noll’s appearance is expected to be a highlight for fans eager to see him perform live. Best known for his hits What About Me and Lift, Noll has been a prominent figure in the Australian music scene since finishing runner-up to Guy Sebastian on the first season of Australian Idol more than two decades ago. Noll often sings about the struggles and triumphs of everyday life in the bush, as he himself grew up on a farm in Condobolin in New South Wales. He said he was excited to be back in Geraldton performing for fans who have supported him from the start. “The opportunity to come and do the festival there, it should be a lot of fun I reckon. Brandy’s (Adam Brand) on there as well and we’ve done a bit of Western Australia so it would be great to catch up there and I really look forward to the show itself,” Noll said. Noll said it was a long time between drinks and looked forward to spending some time with Brand off the stage. “He’s a good mate of mine so it will be awesome to be able to catch up and say a quick g’day,” he said. “A couple of weeks ago we were playing on different stages at the same time so it made it a bit hard to catch up with him.” Performing all his prominent hits, Noll said the benefit of being in the business for more than 20 years was he had so much to offer. His visit coincides with his 20th anniversary tour That’s What I’m Talking About, and marks his only stop in WA before heading to Tasmania for the last leg of the tour. “This is a regional version, mixing with all the festivals and rodeos and where ever else we’re playing at,” Noll said. “It’s always great getting out to the west and a lot of the time festivals are the best way to catch up with people and get over there and play. It was a great opportunity so we jumped on it.” The Australian singer-songwriter said he plans to get stuck back into writing after the tour, noting he had a “good bunch of songs” in the works but needed to “get back into the writing phase and put together a few more” before releasing a new album in the first half of next year. Yellowfields will feature some of Australia’s beloved artists, including Noll, Brand, Beccy Cole, James Blundell, Matt Cornell, Adrian Eagle and the latest winner of Australian Idol Dylan Wright, as well as popular local artists. Festival organisers promise to transform the quiet rural oval into an epic all-ages event, with food vendors, licensed areas and activities on offer.
