There is only one more round to go before elimination finals begin as Suiside fight for a double chance.

Rams have already clinched top spot regardless of whether they lose, meaning Suiside have it all to play for against the minor premiers.

Rams player Dion Harrison explained the new finals format for this year.

“We have ourselves in a really good position sealing top spot and a berth in the grand final,” he said.

“This year, all three teams play finals but first goes straight through while second plays third.

“If second wins the first game they are through but if third wins they then play again later in the day in a double elimination so there’s a big advantage to finishing second.”

Suiside control their fate with Martians having a bye a win would secure second place season.

There is a similar story in the women’s div1 women’s league, with Marlins already secured in first place, with Pis and Rams battling it out for second spot and the quicker potential route into the grand final.

Rams have a tougher assignment with a double-header against Suiside and Martians needing to win both to guarantee them second spot.

If Pis win against Marlins and Rams lose either of their matches, second spot will go to them.

Pis coach David Sutton admitted there were some nerves within the team and knew how crucial the game on Saturday was for the season.

“I have to say we are a bit nervous, with second spot on the line, but we know what we have to do,” he said.

“I will do everything I can to get the team preparation right to give us the best possible chance and the girls have the ability to beat any team.”

In the second division, Rams Blue and Suiside fight it out for first and second.

Rams Blue take on Martians Red and Rams White in their double-header, with two victories securing the minor premiership while Suiside go up against Marlins in a must-win game.

Both first and second are still to play for in the women’s — Suiside and Marlins are vying for first spot, while Martians Black and Pis are still in contention for second.

Marlins take on Suiside on Wednesday evening while Pis have a double against Rams and Martians Red, leaving Martians Black with a single game against Rams.
