Tell cops not social media when reporting offenders

Geraldton traffic police are concerned people are posting videos of bad driving on social media without informing police.

Acting Sgt Keith Burrows said he continued to follow Facebook pages for dash cam footage but there were better ways to report irresponsible driving.

“If they were to ring us at the police station it would have more effect and enable us to follow it up in a timely manner,” he said.

“If we have got vehicles on the road between us and Perth we can attempt to intercept the driver to prevent them from being involved in a crash.”

Sgt Burrows asked people to supply police with any dash cam footage they had of poor drivers.

“And we ask our drivers to drive a little bit more responsibly,” he said.

Footage can be taken into any police Station or reported online via the online report form.
