The Bystander Project: Whiskey & Boots reveal Geraldton people involved in live verbatim performance at QPT

Do you know these faces? Do you know their stories? These are some of the Geraldtonians and Mid West locals showcased in a bespoke performance next weekend at the Queens Park Theatre. The Geraldton Guardian is revealing some of their faces, which are undoubtedly well-known around the community, but more are yet to be unveiled in The Bystander Project, produced by Whiskey & Boots. Stories from local people will be told on stage by performers and presented in a headphone verbatim technique, taking place on Saturday, July 15. The Bystander Project is a word-for-word storytelling experience embedded with theatrical performance, photography and live music, as locals share their deepest thoughts and stories and have them aired by someone else. Actor and producer Georgia King said the performance was based on getting to know your community on a deeper level and curators sought out a variety of people from different walks of life to be the authentic talent. “We believe everyone has an interesting story, it’s just we don’t ask everyone. We look for a broad cross-section of different people with different experiences,” she said. Founding member of Whiskey & Boots Mark Storen said The Bystander Project acted as a platform for local stories and was a celebration of community and place. “It’s saying here they are, here you are, this is what makes up your community and isn’t it amazing,” he said. You got 10 minutes to the beach, 10 minutes to the bush and 10 minutes to a coffee shop.” Karen Davis “So many people who achieve have come from our area and we should be really really proud of that.” Haley Morris and Colin Cox “Thank you. Yeah, definitely, We wouldn’t be here if they weren’t here.
