The Flavour Report with Derek Goforth: The ins and out of a trip to Go Health in Geraldton’s Stirlings Central

Go Health always reminds me of the cafes and eateries you find in airports or in the laneways of big busy shopping malls in the city. Its positioning right in the middle of the foyer of Stirlings Central makes it an ideal spot for those either starting or finishing their shopping experience. That’s precisely what my girl and I did on this particular occasion, a quick pit stop and takeaway on our way out of Woolies and on our way back to the car. So this time, the Flavour Report opted for takeaway cappuccino, chai latte, vegan baguette and a small piece of sugar-free slice. Coming in at just over $30 the value for money was good. The service was swift and polite; the young man serving us had a quiet and efficient manner about him that belied his youth. The food and drink arrived on our table within 10 minutes, fast even for this type of café. First and foremost, Go Health’s coffee is top notch, smooth and packed with flavour. My only niggle was that we were not offered sweetener and it took a little searching to locate some packets to use, but this is a minor criticism at best. The vegan baguette was brimming with chargrilled veggies and sweet tangy mayo. The bread itself, which I believe is bought from the nearby Baker’s Delight, was as fresh and crispy as it gets. The sandwich was a real treat and easy to eat while on the move. The little sugar-free slice, which the cafe buys in, was fine. Nothing special but it is good to have access to sugar-free goods (this coming from a sugar-free person). The range is excellent and there is a flavour for all tastes. My only gripe with Go Health is the size and variety of the menu, but I do get why it is this way. I think the owners have realised that people are coming to the establishment not for a big meal but for a quick snack or interlude while out shopping. And this they do very well. Plus, they probably offer the biggest range of healthy and sugar-free snacks of any cafe in Geraldton, if that is your thing.
