There is plenty of action in the pool this weekend as the Geraldton Water Polo association plays round 14 matches, with just one more round to go before finals.

Top side Demons play Country Week in the men’s A-grade on Saturday.

There is plenty to play for, with Demons on top of the ladder by just three points.

Second play third in the other game as B52s face Rats.

Demons beat B52s 10-9 last round as Ben Vittino scored a hat-trick.

Zacc Cross scored twice for the winners and Lachie Toomath got the other goal.

Drew Tunbridge got a hat-trick of his own for the B52s but it was not enough.

In the women’s A-grade, league leaders B52s will expect to beat fourth-placed Rats when they play on Saturday.

Second-placed Demons will hope to beat Serpents, who are third, in order to keep the 12-point gap behind the B52s from widening any further.

B52s beat Demons 10-2 last round.

Ellie Pead, Tenielle Hawke and Tenae Leitch each got two goals for the B52s.

Abbey Benham, Indi Smith and Emma Smith also got on the score sheet for the winners.

Serpents beat Rats 4-2, with four different players scoring for the winners.

Women’s B-grade play tonight.

Top side B52s play second-placed Rats, and third and fourth meet as Serpents play Demons.

In men’s B-grade, second-placed Demons play B52s Relics tonight.

Top side B52s are not in action until Saturday, when they play fourth-placed Rats.

Other divisions also play on Saturday.

All games are at the Geraldton Aquarena.

Olympic referee Liz Burman will be heading up to take charge of the officiating group for finals.

“Liz has refereed the Olympics, among everything else, in a great career,” men’s Country Week coach and FINA water polo official Russell McKinnon said.

“She’ll be assessing our top referees.”
