Two police officers allegedly assaulted on Marine Terrace by man released from court on strict bail conditions

Police say a man released from court on strict bail conditions allegedly assaulted two police officers on Marine Terrace mall after causing a disturbance in the area. It’s alleged about 3pm on Thursday the two police officers were assaulted near Cotton On while arresting a man who was causing a disturbance by screaming and shouting. Officer-in-charge Sen. Sgt Chris Martin said the man punched one officer in the face and the other received a laceration to the back of their head and arm. He said the officers were being treated at Geraldton Health Campus, but anticipated no serious injuries were caused in the alleged assault. The man, who Sen. Sgt Martin said was only recently released on strict bail conditions, was remanded in custody and will appear in Geraldton Magistrates Court on Friday charged with assaulting a police officer.
