Work to provide underground power to buildings in the CBD will commence tomorrow (7/11/17).

The $1.1 million CBD Underground Power Project will see timber power poles and wires removed between Cathedral Avenue and Forrest Street on Chapman Road, and between Sanford Street and Marine Terrace on Durlacher Street.

Over the next few weeks underground cables will be installed to buildings within the project area.

Power poles and overhead wires will be removed in January and the project is expected to be completed by February.

As there may be traffic delays in the area the City has recommended using alternative routes where possible.

The City has encouraged community members to exercise caution in the area and obey all warning signs and directions.

The project is jointly funded by the City of Greater Geraldton, Western Power and the State Government.
