WA College of Agriculture Morawa student Mackenzie Hall receives VET in Schools Scholarship
A Morawa agricultural student has been awarded a prestigious scholarship which will help her pursue her vocational studies.
WA College of Agriculture Morawa student Mackenzie Hall was awarded a VET in schools scholarship, and was chosen among a field of high-quality candidates.
The scholarship, offered by the Public Education Foundation, granted successful students $1500 a year for up to three years towards their studies.
The Year 11 student said she was thrilled to have received the honour.
“This is the first scholarship I have ever applied for, the application was really detailed, and I had to complete it all myself, with references from Mr (Dean) Carslake (principal) and Ms (Elizabeth) Boyce (deputy principal),” she said.
“I was so happy when I had found out I had won, I couldn’t believe it.”
Mackenzie began at the school last year, and according to the college has shown a strong work ethic, and is an enthusiastic member of the cohort who always shows initiative.
She was one of several students from the college to take part in last year’s Perenjori Show, participating in a hands-on farm skills competition.
The funding from the scholarship is set to go towards study costs, face-to-face mentoring and online tutoring.
Mackenzie is set to be formally recognised in an official ceremony later this year.
